A Complete Guide: Installing Your Watch Face or Watch Apps on Wear OS

This guide will walk you through the various methods for installing a watch face or watch app that you have already installed on your phone to your Wear OS watch.

⚠️ Prerequisite Check: Watch Compatibility
​Before starting, please ensure your watch is compatible with the watch face:

• Check Compatibility: Refer to the Compatibility Notes at the bottom of the watch face's Play Store page.
• Version Requirement: Note that some watch faces (e.g., those with advanced weather features) may require a specific Wear OS build (e.g., Wear OS 5 or above).
• Need a Refund? If you discover your watch is incompatible with your purchase, please send us an email (from the phone app) with your Google Play Store order confirmation number for a full refund.

Part 1: Installation Methods

These methods guide you through initiating the download onto your watch. For the easiest experience, we recommend starting with your phone or computer.

Method A: Install Initiated from Phone or Computer (Recommended)

Initiating the installation from a larger screen is generally the most reliable way to find the app and push the download to your watch.

1. Using the Companion Phone App

Most of our watch face and watch apps feature a dedicated banner to initiate the watch installation.

1. Verify Connection: Ensure your phone and watch are actively connected.
   • Check the Wear App: Open your companion phone app (e.g., Google Pixel Watch app, Samsung Galaxy Wearable). It should display a "Connected" status.
   • Check the Watch: Make sure there is no "disconnected" icon displayed at the bottom of your watch face. Note: Watches often disconnect to save power, so wake up your watch to ensure a connection.
2. Open the Phone App: Launch the companion phone app for the watch face.
3. Find the Install Banner: Locate the installation banner (usually at the very top of the app's first page). However, for apps featuring richer content or a story, the banner may be located at the very end of the story.
4. Tap the Banner: With your watch awake and near your phone, tap the banner.
5. Watch Redirect: Your watch should briefly open the watch face's Play Store page, where you can install it. Continue to Part 2.
   • If the page doesn't appear on your watch within a few seconds, try tapping the banner again.​

2. Using the Google Play Store App on Your Phone

• Navigate to the Play Store Page: Go to the watch face's Play Store page on your phone.
• Select Your Watch: On the Play Store page, look for the Device Dropdown List, or Available on more devices.
• Initiate Install: Select your watch from the device list and tap Install.
• Complete Download: The watch face will begin installing on your watch when it is online. Continue to Part 2.​

How to Find the Watch Face Page on Your Phone:

• Option A (Recommended): Go to your phone's system Settings, find Apps (or "App Info"), select the watch face app, and look for an App Details or View in Store link at the bottom. This links directly to the Play Store page.
• Option B (Play Store): Open the Google Play Store app on your phone. Tap your Profile Picture (top right) → Manage apps & device → Manage. Find the watch face app in your list and tap it to open its details page.

3. Using the Google Play Store on a Web Browser (Desktop/Laptop)

• Go to Play Store Web: Open the Google Play Store play.google.com in a web browser on your computer. Log in with the correct Google account.
• Select Your Watch: On the watch face's Play Store page, select your watch from the list of installable devices.
• Initiate Install: Click Install.
• Complete Download: The watch face will be installed when your watch is online. Continue to Part 2.

How to Find the Watch Face Page on Your Computer:

• Option A (Search): Search for the watch face name on Google Play.
• Option B (Library): Click your Profile Picture (top right) → Library and Devices. Find the watch face app in your list and click it.

Method B: Install Directly on Your Watch (Direct Search)

You can search for and install the app directly on the watch.

1. Open Play Store on Your Watch: Search with the exact Watch Face name.
2. Install the Watch Face: Open the watch face's Play Store page and tap Install.
3. Complete Download: Once the installation is complete, continue to Part 2.

Part 2: Final Steps on Your Watch (Set and Customize)

After installation is complete using any method above, you must complete these steps on your watch to apply the watch face.

1. Set the Watch Face (Option 1: After Install):
   • If you installed the app directly on the watch, the Play Store may give you an immediate option to Set a Watch Face. Tap this if available.
2. Set the Watch Face (Option 2: Manual Selection):
   • If the immediate option is not available, or you installed from your phone/web, follow these steps:
     • Step 1: Long Press on your current watch face.
     • Step 2: Swipe left until you see the (+) Add Watch Face icon.
     • Step 3: Tap the (+) and scroll to find the watch face you just installed. Tap it to set it as active.
3. Customize (Optional):
   • Long Press the new watch face again.
   • Tap the Edit (or similar) button and swipe through the available customization options.
